Despues de un largo tiempo sin pintar aquí hay una figura de Punkapocalyptic, la francotiradora chatarrera.
Como ocurre con otras figuras de esta marca, es buena para pintar, pero muy delicada para jugar. El cañón del rifle y la muleta se doblan con solo mirarlos mal.
After a long time without painting here is a Punkapocalyptic figure, the junker sniper.
As it happens with other miniatures from this brand, it is good for painting, but too delicate for playing. The rifle's cannon and the crutch bend just by looking at them.
Conseguí tener algo de tiempo para pintar, y lo aproveché en practicar un poco con el metal no metálico con la miniatura de un amigo. Además, también hice un emblema a mano alzada, que ha resultado sorprendentemente facil. Costó mucho más dibujar el borde del escudo que el emblema en si.
I managed to get some time for painting, and used it to practice a bit of non-metallic metal with a friend's miniature. Also, I made a freehand emblem, which was surprisingly easy. It was much harder painting the shield's border than the emblem itself.
No había participado en Kickstarters hasta ahora, desde luego han habido muy buenos, pero tengo ya muchas miniaturas para pintar, y juegos a los que ni he jugado, como para añadir más a la cola.
Pero esta vez ha sido distinto, quizás es porque me gustan las miniaturas del Comité Revolucionario Simio (¿A quien no?), Ape Revolutionary Committee en inglés, un grupo de monos inteligentes comunistas y sin sentido del bien y el mal. Realmente mi idea inicial era solo poner para el manual y el pack de este grupo, pero he acabado subiendo al Supreme Pledge y añadiendo los Grimm, una especie de hombres topo que en el manual servian de imágenes de ejemplo para los minions.
Lo que distingue a este de otros juegos es su temática: es un juego de miniaturas de superheroes. No he tenido la oportunidad nunca de probarlo, pero tengo los dos starters (que parece que serán sustituidos por unos nuevos dentro de poco) y las miniaturas son de calidad, que es lo que más me importa.
Como digo, no he podido probar el juego en si, así que hay poco que pueda decir de las reglas. Hacen falta pocas miniaturas, y cada heroe cumple un tipo de rol, imitando las diferentes temáticas de los superheroes de comic. Además tiene un sistema estilo piedra-papel-tijera para arreglarselas en caso de empates basado en el trasfondo del personaje (ciencia vence a misterio, que vence a naturaleza, que vence a ciencia). Y una cosa muy interesante, la edición anterior, que aun tienen en la página te daba reglas para crear tus propios minions que ayuden y obedezcan a tus heroes.
Este kickstarter lo que pretende es sacar un nuevo libro de reglas actualizado, en el que por lo que veo (gracias a las reglas beta en la página) han simplificado la creación de listas, pero añadido nuevos tipos de heroes. Además, gracias a que han superado rápidamente el mínimo que esperaban alcanzar, también saldrán nuevos personajes.
This is the first time I back a Kickstarter project, I know there have been lots of good ones, but I already have plenty of miniatures to paint, and games which I haven't even tried, and I didn't want to add more to the pile.
But this time it has been different, maybe it's because I like the miniatures of the Ape Revolutionary Committee (who doesn't?), a group of intelligent and communist monkeys without a sense of right and wrong. Actually my initial idea was adding just for the manual and the pack for this group, but at the end I went for the Supreme Pledge and added the Grimm, some sort of mole-people which in the manual served as images for the minions.
The thing which marks this game apart from other games is the thematic: it is a superheroes miniatures game. I never had the chance of actually playing it, but I have the two starters (which, it seems, will be changed for two new ones soon) and the miniatures are quality goods, which is what I care the most for.
As I said, I never had the chance to play it, so I know little about the rules. It needs few miniatures, and each heroe fills a role along the different thematics of comic superheroes. Alsot, it has a nice rock-paper-scissors system to handle ties based on the character's background (science beats mystery, which beats nature, which beats science). And a very interesting thing, the previous edition, which is still on the page, has rules to create your own minions which will obey and help your heroes.
This kickstarter wants to publish the new updated rulebook, where they have (as I see on the beta rules on the page) simplified the list creation system, but added new kinds of heroes. Also, thanks to having raised more than the minimum they expected, there will be new heroes.
Un fallido intento de probar el uso de pigmentos. Y eso que hasta entonces estaba llendo todo bien.
La idea era probar los productos de Secret Weapon que compré en verano, y las pinturas metálicas al alcohol de Vallejo. Todo estaba llendo bien, aunque el Liquid Silver de Vallejo deja un resultado tan liso que las tintas de Secret Weapon no agarraban bien, un problema que no era de la tinta, porque en la piel del orco funcionó como era de esperar.
El problema fue con los pigmentos, nunca los había utilizado y los probé de varias formas: mezclados con alcohol, mezclados con agua y en seco. Desde luego fue instructivo, porque no funcionan igual todos los pigmentos, ni tampoco funcionan como pintura normal, pero nada pudo evitar que acabase dejando la armadura como si hubiera salido de un chatarrero, cuando solo quería darle un poco de óxido.
A failed attempt in the use of pigments. And it was going all well until that step.
The idea was trying the Secret Weapon products I had bought during the summer, and Vallejo's alcohol basis paints. All was going well, even though Vallejo's Liquid Silver leaves such a smooth result that Secret Weapon inks didn't grab, a problem which was not of the inks, as they did work as intended on the orc's skin.
The problem was with the pigments, I had never used them and tried several ways: mixin with acohol, mixing with water and dry. Undoubtly it was instructive, because not all the pigments work the same way, nor they work like normal paints, but nothing could stop the armor from ending like it was taken from the junkyard, when I just wanted to add a bit of oxid to it.
Hace no mucho que terminé esta miniatura, usando el mismo esquema que la Oniwaban Shinobu Kitsune, solo que cambiando el verde por rosa, y añadiendo un nuevo color para el arma.
La verdad es que llevó bastante tiempo, y no pinté los emblemas porque no estaba seguro de que no fuera a estropear las hombreras, pero al menos parece que logro que el blanco y el negro me queden decentes.
Not long ago I finished this miniatures, using the same schema as with the Oniwaban Shinobu Kitsune, just swapping the green for rose, and adding a new color for the weapon.
It took a while to be done, and I didn't paint the emblems as I wasn't sure I wouldn't spoil all the work done on the shoulder pads, but at least it seem I manage to make black and white look decent.
La peana está hecha con masilla gris, que si no me equivoco es masilla de aluminio. Las dos lineas transversales se hicieron mientras aun estaba blanda, pero los cuadrados se marcaron cuando estaba dura y quedaron con los bordes rotos.
The base was made with grey putty, which if I'm not mistaken is aluminum putty. The two transversal lines were made when it still was soft, but the squares were made when it had already hardened and ended with the borders broken.
Quería volver a probar algunas de las cosas que hice con la figura napoleónica, pero esta vez en una figura más pequeña, así que cogí una de las de Carnevale que tenía por casa y aquí está el resultado.
I wanted to try again some of the things I did on the napoleonic figure, but this time in a smaller miniature, so I took one of the Carnevale ones I had around and here is the result.
Una miniatura que no tengo claro de donde ha salido, solo sé que me pidieron que la pintara y yo lo hice. Por lo que sé lo que representa es un oficial de lanceros ligeros napoleónico, aunque no puedo asegurar que los colores sean correctos.

A miniature of which I'm not sure the source, I just know that I was asked to paint it and so I did. As far as I know it represent a napoleonic light lanciers officer, but I can't assure the colors are correct.
The scale, by the way, is a bit bigger than what I usually paint, as this figure is at 54mm.
Siguiendo el estilo del juego, este personaje es un guerrero que usa el ki para convertir sus artes marciales en algo sobrenatural. Por supuesto, ya que si no esto era poco tópico, el personaje incluye unos sellos místicos que le hacen aun más poderoso.
Estos sellos se supone que son esas cosas que tiene en el pecho pero, como ocurre con de vez en cuando con Anima Tactics, el que esculpió la figura pasó de complicarse la vida y convirtió los sellos en una especie de energía mística que le recorre el cuerpo, que no queda muy bien. Aunque tampoco es que yo haya logrado pintarla de una forma muy decente, parece hueso más que energía.
Going along the game's style, this character is a warrior which used the ki to transform his martial arts into something supernatural. Of course, as otherwise this wouldn't be topical enough, the character includes some mystical seals which make him even more powerful.
These seals are supposedly those things he has over his chest but, as it happens with Anima Tactics, the guy who sculpted the model didn't want any complication and so he transformed those seals into some kind of magical energy running through his body, which doesn't look too good. But I must note that I didn't manage to paint it in a very decent way, it look more like bone than like energy.
Nunca he tenido tantos problemas para montar una miniatura. Los brazos no encajaban entre si, no había sitio en el cuello para poner la cabeza cómodamente y un tobillo se partió con una facilidad increible, obligándome a anclar la pierna.
Pero al final conseguí que todo quedase en su sitio y la pinté sin más problemas. Por suerte aparte de para darme problemas me ha servido para hacer algunas pruebas con los colores que no han salido mal. El músculo artificial está pintado usando los colores fluo de Vallejo, y para el negro, gris y blanco hice una única escala de negro a blanco, que dividí en tres partes, con el gris solapándose con los otros dos colores.
I never had so many problems preparing a miniature. The arms didn't fit each other, there was no place on the neck to glue the head and one ankle did break with an incredible ease, forcing me to pin the leg.
But finally I managed to put everything on its place and painted it without any more problems. Luckily apart from giving me problems it served to make some color tests which didn't end bad. The artificial muscle was painted using Vallejo's fluo colors, and for the black, gray and white I made a single color scale from black to white, which I divided in three pieces, with the gray overlapping the other two colors.

La primera miniatura con un uso intensivo de metal no metálico que me queda bien. Este Bugman estaba en casa de un amigo, y como me llamó la atención lo cogí para pintarlo.
Las fotos han salido muy granuladas, no sé si es porque la lámpara buena se me ha estropeado y lo que tengo no da suficiente luz o si he configurado algo mal en la cámara, pero me temo que las fotos han salido muy mal.
The first miniature with an intensive use of non metallic metal that ends looking good. This Bugman was at a friend's house, and as it did grab my attention I took it to paint.
The photos are very grainy, I don't know if it's because the good lamp is broken and what I have doesn't give enough light or if I configured something wrong on the camera, but I fear the photos look really bad.
El estandarte, como otro al principio de este blog, está hecho con una de esas láminas de plástico que separan lonchas de queso en algunos envases. Me temo que no ha quedado del todo bien por culpa de hacerlo con prisas.
The banner, just like another at the beginning of this blog, was made with one of those plastics which separate cheese sleeves. I fear it didn't end beign too good due to making it rushed.

Aunque normalmente las ilustraciones de Anima Tactics tienen unos esquemas de colores raros, esta vez me gustó la idea de usar colores cálidos y brillantes en toda la figura. Además, era una oportunidad para practicar el metal no metálico más a fondo.
Even though the Anima Tactics illustrations usually use some weird color schemes, this time I liked the idea of using calid and shining colors in all the figure. Also, it was a chance to give a better try to the non metallic metal.
Ahora me doy cuenta de que debería haber sacado una foto desde un ángulo superior, para que así se pudiese ver el arma mejor, ya que, por primera vez, he logrado que quede bien el NMM en una cuchilla. Pero la miniatura no era para mi y ya está en manos de su dueño.
Now I see I should have taken a photo from a higher angle, so the weapon could be seen better, as, for the first time, I've managed to make NMM look good on a blade. But the miniature was not for me and now it is on it's owner's hands.
Las marcas rojas en la tela las copié de la ilustración oficial, y me di cuenta de dos cosas. En primer lugar la linea roja ayuda a dar forma a la tela, que al ser tan clara no se veia bien. Y en segundo, al cortar la linea en trozos ya no se notan las imperfecciones en esta, se rompe la continuidad lo suficiente como para que el resultado mejore.
The red marks on the cloth were copied from the official illustration, and I noticed two things. In fist place the red line helps to shape the cloth, which beings so white is hard to see. And in second place, cutting the line in strips hides the imperfections, it breaks the continuity enough for the result to improve.
Como siempre hace falta un marcador, y no tienes siempre algo que valga por ello, me hice esta pequeña peana para indicar el turno actual.
El trabajo es bien sencillo, despues de dibujar letras en papel hasta encontrar un diseño que me gustase la recorté en cartón, una pieza de las que tapan los blisters me valió, y luego la arreglé con masilla gris.
As a marker is something you always need, and not always there is something to take it's place, I made this small base to indicate the current turn.
This is a simple job, after drawing characters in a paper until I found a nice design it was just cutting it on cardboard, for that I used one of the pieces on the back of a blister, and then what was left was fixing it with a bit with grey putty.
El problema es que al humedecerse se empezó a estropear el cartón, aunque con un poco de superglue se endurece facilmente. También dió problemas la masilla gris, porque aunque deja resultados muy lisos no pega bien. Con el próximo marcador, el de re-roll, probaré a usar plasticard y masilla verde, a ver que tal funciona.
The problem is that when it got wet the cardboard started to get ruined, but with a bit of superglue it's easy to harden again. The grey putty also gave a few problems, because it may leave smooth results but not always stays on it's place. With the next marker, the re-roll one, I'll try plasticard and green putty, to see how it works.
Con el lanzador listo, ya están pintados diez de las doce miniaturas que venian en la caja, solo quedan los wardancers, y Jordell.
No hay mucha diferencia entre este y los anteriores elfos, excepto que creo que ya conozco mejor la combinación de colores que estoy usando. El único color nuevo es el del balón, un color cuero rojizo que no es demasiado complicado de conseguir. Simplemente, es marrón iluminado con naranja.
Como de costumbre, el número está hecho a mano alzada. Tuve que pintarlo dos veces, ya que no me gustaba nada como quedó al primer intento.
With the thrower ready, there are already ten of the twelve miniatures from the box painted, only the wardancers, and Jordell, are left.
There is not much difference between this and the previous elves, except that now I think I'm used to the color combination. The only new color is the one on the ball, a red leather color which is not too hard to get. It's just brown highlighted with orange.
Again, the number is a freehand. Actually, I had to do it twice, because I didn't like a bit how it ended the first time.
