Esta vez el escudo es mucho más complejo que en el caballero anterior, y tras consultar ilustraciones sobre caballeros medievales decidí que tenía tres opciones para enfrentarme al problema:

• Usar solo el fondo.
• Usar el fondo y poner las mazas en las piezas grandes de la gualdrapa (con lo que habría cuatro parejas de mazas).
• Dar un color homogeneo y pintar el escudo entero en las piezas grandes de la gualdrapa (con lo que habría cuatro escudos sobre esta).

Todo esto, por supuesto, a mano alzada. Por ello, y como nunca había pintado nada similar, me decidí por la opción más simple e intenté pintar el patrón ajedrezado sobre toda la tela.

This time the crest is much more complex than in the previous knight, and after checking images of medieval knights I decided there were three options for facing the problem:

• Using only the background pattern.
• Using the background and painting the maces over the biggest pieces of the horse-cloth (and so there would be four pairs of maces).
• Painting an homogeneous color and painting the full shield on the biggest pieces of the horshe-cloth (and so there would be four shields on it).

All of this, of course, using free-hand. Due to this, and because I never had painted anything similar, I decided for the easiest solution and tried to paint the checkered pattern over all the cloth.

Este es mi segundo intento de pintar una miniatura de caballería, y para que no quedase tan monótona como la anterior probé un par de cosas nuevas. En primer lugar le añadí calcetines, que quedaron bien, pero además le intenté dar un morro más realista, que no quedó tan bien. Es dificil darle más detalle cuando la mayor parte del cuerpo está tapada.

La ropa del caballero no lleva el patrón del escudo. No habría destacado sobre su caballo si lo hubiese hecho. En vez de ello le di dos de los colores de su escudo, el blanco y el rojo.

This is my second attempt at painting a cavalry unit, and to avoid it looking dull like the previous one I attempted a pair of new things. First I added sockets to it, which ended looking nicely, but also I tried to paint a more realistic snout, which in the end didn't look so good. It's hard to add any more detail when most of the body is covered up.

The knight's clothes do not wear the shield's pattern. He wouldn't be clearly visible against the horse's clothes if I had done otherwise. Instead I simply painted him with two of the shield's colors, white and red.
